Kylie Minogue might seem like a new artist to many young people in America, however, she's been pounding out hits around the world for over fifteen years. She did have some success in the USA with a remake of Little Eva's "Locomotion". That track would hit the Billboard Top 10 in 1987. After a follow-up single "I Should Be So Lucky", Kylie would disappear from the U.S. shores as a singer. She did have a stint in the widely trashed movie "Bio-Dome" and then a small role in "Moulin Rouge".
But Kylie was an international mega-star. The Melbourne beauty started her career on the popular soap "Neighbours". While the show filmed in Australia, it was a huge hit in the U.K. Kylie was a household name, not only down under but in Europe. In fact in the 90s Kylie was a bigger star than Madonna throughout Europe.
She would have a long string of hits in Australia and in Europe, but
she would have to wait until 2001 to make it to the American charts.
"Can't Get You Out Of My Head" was already a huge hit around the world when it was released in America. The song written by Cathy Dennis, who has had her own U.S. chart success, was an instant hit, making it into the top ten on the singles chart. But the big surprise was when the full length CD "Fever" was released, it entered the charts at number three. Kylie would also go on to win a Grammy Award.
While Kylie Minogue would continue to release hit singles, she made bigger headlines for her battle with cancer. After taking time off, she would return to the concert stage and continues to wow audiences around the world.
